FAQs About EGGnoggin

Q)  How many students are permitted on a team?

A)  A team can consist of as little as two students, up to a maximum of 12.

Q)  Can a teacher coach more than one team?

A)  Yes, you can coach as many teams as you want, but we suggest seeking some additional adult help if you have more than one team.

Q)  How and where will the team receive the EGGsam? And Where is the best place for a team to meet the day of the competition?

A)  The EGGsams are sent via email. Most teams meet in the school's computer lab, but it is possible to take the EGGsam anywhere a computer and terminal are operational. Some teams choose to receive the EGGsam in the coach's classroom.

Q)  Will our team have to compete against dozens of other teams?

A)  NO, the EGGnoggin staff will see to it that no division has more than 10 teams, (total) in any division.

Q)  How long will the "Research" phase last?

A)  Two weeks.

Q)  Can we take the EGGsam at any time of our choosing?

A)  Yes, on the 14th day of the competition, you may pick the time of day that your team will receive the EGGsam.

Q)  How much time will we have to take the EGGsam?

A)  The EGGsam is designed to complete within 75 minutes. An additional 15 minutes is also provided for downloading, organizing team members, etc., or to use in anyway the coach wants.  This brings the total time to 90 minutes.

Q)  Can the EGGsam date be altered or changed in anyway?

A)  Yes, EGGnoggin makes every effort to accommodate the different situations that a team may encounter. But all changes are subject to our approval.

Q)  What kind of assistance is the coach permitted to offer during the "Research" phase of the competition?

A)  All forms of help or assistance and all research sources are permitted. (This includes the internet, newspapers, other teachers, books and periodicals). EGGnoggin encourages parental involvement too. Both parents and students should see this site before entering a team.

Q)  How much assistance can the coach provide during the "EGGsam" phase of the competition?

A)  A teacher or coach is expected to use their professional judgment regarding "help" during the EGGsam. We ask that the coach provide the same assistance as on any other test or quiz, given during class - No more, and No less.

Q)  How do we get started?

A)  Go to Contact Us or to Registration in the menu, and we'll be in touch.

In a few years these kids will be old enough to join EGGnoggin and Dad can't wait.

This never would have happened if the teacher signed up for EGGnoggin and cancelled the bus trip.  Oh well, there's always next time.
